New action on First Great Western dispute

Defend safety and service on inter-city trains
RAIL UNION RMT have confirmed further strike dates and action short of a strike in the dispute with First Great Western as the company continues to fail to meet the core issues impacting on staff and passengers from the introduction of the new fleet of Hitachi inter-city trains.

The action will include strikes on Sunday 23rd August and Saturday 29th August through to Monday 31st August. Maintenance staff will work to rule.

The action follows a rock solid 48-hour strike in July which led to widespread disruption to services.

Support RMT at First Great Western

48 hour strike from 18:30 Wednesday 8th July

RAIL UNION RMT have said that talks aimed at settling a dispute on First Great Western over the threat to jobs and safety from the introduction of the new Hitachi Inter-City trains have broken down without agreement and the forty eight hours of strike action across the company starting at 18.30 hours on Wednesday 8th July goes ahead as planned.

In Bristol RMT members will be picketing Bristol Temple Meads from 0700 hrs on Thursday 9th July. Other Bristol trade unionists are urged to visit and support the RMT picket lines.
