Mike Levine, a local historian and NHS activist, has written a pamphlet that gives details of this process, which has been going on since 1990. He says that we will eventually have a two-tier health service with less and less care for those who cannot afford to pay.
Mike argues that IT CAN BE STOPPED IF PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING.

Protect our NHS in association with People’s March for the NHS and local health unions will host a march and Rally starting in The Centre @ 11.30 AM and ending at Castle Park. You may recall the “darlo mums” who last year walked 300 miles to London to show their dedication to the NHS and opposition to the current privatisation. They are an inspiration and are calling for another day of action.
So please come and march to show your support for the NHS, what it represents and all the hard working doctors and nurses!
Protect Our NHS are organising meetings with the parliamentary candidates in three key constituencies: these will be specifically on health and the NHS. Please note these dates for your diaries and come and put the candidates on the spot:
Bristol West: 30th March : St Michael’s Church Hall, Gloucester Road, Bishopston
Bristol North-West: 16th April, Greenway Centre, Southmead
Kingswood: 17th April, Kingswood Community Centre
All are starting at 19:00 (7pm) except the Kingswood meeting starting at 19:30.
On Friday 21 November a bill will be put before parliament that puts the brakes on the worst aspects of the government’s pro-privatisation, market driven NHS reforms – making it publicly accountable once more!
But we need your help to make sure that your MP votes and supports Labour MP Clive Efford’s National Health Service (Amended Duties and Powers) Bill.
Put pressure on your MP to vote: MPs are in their constituencies this week, why not pay yours a visit? Ring them or send an email. Find out where and when your MP holds their constituency surgery at theyworkforyou.com.
Backing the bill is not enough – make sure your MP commits to turn up to vote on the 21 November in the House of Commons
The EU is negotiating a wide-ranging deal with the US that will destroy many of the laws and services that protect our health. This deal is called ‘TTIP’, and it’s so damaging to our way of life that bureaucrats are negotiating it in secret. But we can change that. Please sign the Europe-wide petition today, and make sure this trade deal is brought out into the open and debated properly.
