Save Bristol’s Public Libraries!

BADACA OPEN MEETING:
1st December 2014; 19:30–21:00
BRISTOL YHA HOSTEL
14 NARROW QUAY
BRISTOL BS1 4QA

‘Independent’ Mayor George Ferguson & Green Assistant Mayor Gus Hoyt would have you believe that their ‘Libraries for the Future’ consultation about Bristol’s public libraries is an exciting development and expansion of services for the thousands of regular users and thousands more occasional users. Behind their florid propaganda however lies a savage cut of £1.1 million per year – or 20% – from the budget.

BADACA opposes all cuts to jobs & services – we will campaign to defend any threatened libraries & services. We believe that our local politicians – particularly those that portray themselves as on the left – should be fighting the cuts – not implementing them on behalf of Cameron & Clegg.

Join us for a discussion about fighting these huge cuts – hear from local trade-unionists & campaigners on ways we can take the campaign forward.

We will be planning a further public meeting in January where we will challenge George Ferguson or Gus Hoyt to a debate and at Monday’s meeting we will also be planning a series of activities to build for the public meeting. BRING YOUR IDEAS TO THE MEETING!

We will also be discussing the ongoing public sector pay disputes, as well as the Bedroom Tax & Protect our NHS campaigns and much more. ALL WELCOME!

We will also be leafleting for the meeting on FRI 28TH NOVEMBER FROM 12.30PM OUTSIDE BEDMINSTER LIBRARY, BEDMINSTER PARADE
